Around 150 new shops and restaurants
will open their doors
Axel Funke, Managing Director of Multi Development Germany, said, “From September 2009, Dresden’s inner city will have a new tourist magnet: with its urban, very modern architecture and a sophisticated international retail offering, Centrum-Galerie will help to make the Prager Straße one of Germany’s best shopping boulevards!”
Order of construction
The demolition of the old Centrum store has been completed. The Dresden firms Brückner Grundbau and A.R.D. are now commencing the excavations. Civil and structural engineering will start in September 2007. Centrum-Galerie will be opened in September 2009.
Multi Development is to create a shopping arcade in Dresden’s best shopping location, the Prager Straße, on the site of the former Centrum department store, which will consist of two striking building complexes, with a total of around 52,000 m² of trading space. Centrum-Galerie will provide international retail offerings and gastronomic concepts on four public levels. Services and day care will complement the offering in the center. The project’s own car park will contain around 1,000 parking spaces. The concept for the arcade comes from the Dutch architects T+T Design working with the Dresden architects Peter Kulka and a renowned international team of architects. Centrum-Galerie will be developed, owned and operated by Multi Development Germany GmbH.
