NEINVER’s Coruña The Style Outlets, the first property in Spain to earn the BREEAM Europe certification.
FACTORY Warsaw Annopol, which will become Warsaw’s largest, will have 19,300 m² of Gross Leasable Area (GLA) spread over 122 units from top domestic and international brands, such as Levi’s, Puma, Reebok, Lee, Bytom, Simple, Wittchen and Wrangler.
“When FACTORY Warsaw Ursus opened, we were pioneering the outlet concept in Poland. Likewise, we broke new ground in updating the concept by transforming and upgrading our centers. Now we are pioneers again by earning the first BREEAM Europe environmental certificate in Poland, and we are proud of that because it shows our projects’ balance with nature and their surroundings,” said Barbara Topolska, General Manager of NEINVER Poland.
The emphasis on respect for the environment and the community, along with optimisation of natural resources, have been among NEINVER’s key principles since its foundation, and are reflected in its projects. One proof of this is the recently opened Coruña The Style Outlets, the first property in Spain to earn the BREEAM Europe certification. The architectural techniques used in constructing the center minimizes the building’s negative impact on the environment and its users.
Coruña The Style Outlets maximizes the use of natural light, taking advantage of it for 35% of the common areas and the shops. Also, the centre’s technical equipment reduces water consumption by nearly 50% and pollutant gas emissions by 30%.
BREEAM Retail Certification
BREEAM is an independent evaluation system for sustainability of construction projects, which monitors and verifies a building’s environmental performance regarding categories such as health, energy, water, transport, life cycle of materials, waste reduction, improving and conserving the surroundings, and reducing pollution.
In 2008, the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), one of the main business associations in the shopping center industry, standardized this certificate as a common environmental evaluation method for all shopping centers developed in Europe.
