Construction of Ljubljana's new City Center Emonika begins (SI)

The construction of Emonika is beginning today following the acquisition of the demolition permit for the existing site. Ljubljana’s new City Center Emonika, which will open its doors in two years, will include new railway and bus stations, a passenger hall, business and residential towers, a hotel and congress center, new parking spaces and a shopping-entertainment center. TriGranit Development Corporation, the investor behind the Emonika project, will also open a kindergarten called Emonika which will be donated to the city of Ljubljana.
Emonika marked the beginning of construction on the project with a solemn ceremony today. Sándor Demján, Chairman of TriGranit Development Corporation, welcomed the beginning of the construction. He remarked that, “Emonika is an important milestone in the development of Ljubljana as well as of Slovenia; it will invigorate the city center and provide a variety of new exciting venues.”
At the occasion Mr. Demján symbolically handed over a check to the mayor of the Municipality of Ljubljana, representing the donation made by TriGranit to the city. Within two years of the opening of the Emonika City Center the Emonika kindergarten will also open its doors for the children and their parents.
Emonika will connect different aspects of modern life in Ljubljana: traveling, shopping, entertainment, and business activities. The office tower will offer business areas on more than 22,000 m˛, the residential tower will house 90 superior apartments. In Emonika’s shopping center, visitors and customers will be able to choose between well-known domestic and foreign brands presenting themselves on 60,000 m˛. 3,700 new parking spaces will provide greater infrastructure for traffic in the center of Ljubljana. Additionally, an upscale business hotel of a well known international company will find its place in Emonika.
